This five-day tour starts with visiting the ruins of ancient Angkor Temples in Siem Reap. See the UNESCO's World heritage site of Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm Temple with overgrown trees, learn about way of life of Angkorian people with visit to Bayon, Banteay Srei considered the jewel of the Angkorian. Witness Khmer craft skills with visit to craft workshop. Then fly to the capital city. Phnom Penh is nowadays a bustling city and its ochre-coloured colonial buildings, bustling squares, trendy cafés, and frangipani-lined boulevards create an atmosphere that is unlike any other city in Southeast Asia. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Angkor Thom complex – Angkor Wat complex – Bakheng Hill temples – Apsara dancing
This morning, your tour will begine by visiting Angkor Thom, the capital of the vast and powerful Khmer Empire during range of King Jayavarman VII (AD 1181 - 1220). An experienced guide will lead you through the South Gate of Angkor Thom, famous for its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk. Spend the morning exploring the many sites within this great walled city, including Baphuon, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephants Terrace, and the Terrace of the Leper King. The highlight of this section of Angkor Wat is the Bayon temple, which has 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces.
Break for lunch in temple area (your own expense).
In the afternoon, visit the iconic Angkor Wat, one of the largest temple complexes within the Angkor area. Your guide will explain the many forms of symbolism within the five-towered temple, pointing out many outstanding features of the classical Khmer architecture. The first day exploring the temples concludes at the Bakheng Hill temples, where the steep climb to the top is rewarded by spectacular sunset views of the Angkor Wat temple across the rice fields.
Dinner will be served at a local restaurant as you watch an Apsara traditional dance performance.

Day 2: Banteay Srey - Ta Phrom
The second day at Angkor Wat ventures further afield to the Banteay Srey temple, 30km from Siem Reap. This 10th century temple is regarded as the jewel in the crown of classical Khmer Art. As you return to town, your guide will stop at a local village, allowing you to visit families who are producing palm sugar.
After lunch break, visit Ta Prohm temple, the 'Indiana Jones' temple which has been largely overgrown by the jungle. This beautiful area remains relatively untouched and features many impressive trees which have grown throughout the ruins. During your remaining time among the temples, choose to visit additional sites around the ancient city of Angkor Thom, such as Preah Khan, Neak Poan, Thomanan & Chausay Tevoda.
In the evening, be guided to the night market before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant in Siem Reap.

Day 3: Roluos group - Tonle Sap boat ride - floating village - artisans d'Angkor
On the final morning among the ruins of Angkor, visit the Roluos group. Your guide will explain the history of these 9th century temples, which are among the earliest large permanent structures built by the Khmers and mark the beginning of Khmer classical art. This area houses an active Buddhist monastery, making it a great way to gain a feel for contemporary rural Cambodia.
In the afternoon, take a traditional wooden boat for a ride on the Tonle Sap Lake, one of the largest lakes in Asia. During the one and a half hour trip, you will be guided around a floating village, viewing the houses, markets, schools and other buildings which make up this fascinating community on the water. This is followed by a visit Les Artisans d'Angkor - Chantiers Ecoles. This cultural centre works with young artisans to create, produce and market a unique collection of ornamental sculptures, lacquer ware, silk weaving and silk painting. The company promotes fair, sustainable development in order to provide benefits to rural communities.
The evening is free for you to sample the many varied dining options available in the town of Siem Reap.
Day 4: Phnom Penh, Royal Palace – Silver Pagoda – National Museum – Toul Sleng – the killing fields – river cruise
After your breakfast at your Hotel, you will be transferred to catch a flight to Phnom Penh. Your sightseeing tour of the city begins at the heart of Phnom Penh with the Royal Palace. Built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of the original city, this large compound still houses the residence of the current monarch amid the beautiful examples of classic Khmer architecture. The star attraction is the Silver Pagoda, named for the 5,000 silver tiles which cover its floor.
Next, step back in time at the nearby National Museum as you view hundreds of sculptures from both the pre and post-Angkorian era. The beautiful building, with its traditional architecture and central courtyard, is a peaceful location to absorb this excellent display of Cambodian art.
Following a Khmer-style lunch at a local restaurant, the tour will continue to some of the more sobering remnants of the Khmer Rouge era. You will visit Toul Sleng, the former high school that became known as Security Prison 21 under the Khmer Rouge regime, to discover more about this period of Cambodian history.
Later in the afternoon, you will travel a little out of the city to Choeung Ek, commonly referred to as the killing fields. This memorial marks the site of many mass executions by the Khmer Rouge and provides further insight into the country’s recent history.
At 5 pm you will embark on an evening river cruise along the Mekong and the Tonle Sap rivers, offering fabulous views of Phnom Penh from the water at sunset. This one-hour trip will be followed by dinner at a restaurant before you are returned to your hotel.
Day 5: Phnom Penh, Departure day
The final day of the tour is kept free to enjoy at your leisure. Visit one of Phnom Penh’s colorful markets, Central Market, relax beside a hotel pool, or while away your time sipping on a coffee and watching the world go by from one of the many French-colonial style cafes and restaurants. Transportation will be provided from your hotel to your onward travel.
